Caitlyn Jenner under fire for quip about GOP baseball practice shooting

Caitlyn Jenner has come under fire for an insensitive, ill-timed joke she made about the shooting last week which left Rep. Steve Scalise critically injured.

The Republican House Majority Whip was among those practicing for a charity baseball game against the congressional Democrats when James Hodgkinson began shooting the Republican congressman.

After being shot in the hip, Scalise required multiple operations and is still being treated in hospital in Washington, D.C. Several others, including police officers David Bailey and Crystal Griner, were also injured while lobbyist Matt Mika is still in hospital after being critically hurt in the attack.

Speaking at the College Republicans’ National Convention gala last week, Republican Jenner was asked about the attack, and a Facebook Live video posted by the College Republican Federation of Virginia showed her response.

“Nobody deserves what happened out there,” Jenner said. “There’s no justification for it. There’s crazy people in the world — we know that… We have to minimize that kind of stuff. But, as far as the people who were injured, it’s an absolute shame.”
