Cops captured a Rhode Island man as he tried escaping the New Hampshire hospital where he fatally shot his patient mother, according to authorities.
Travis Frink, 49, killed his 70-year-old mom as she sought medical care at Lebanon’s Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, New Hampshire Attorney General Gordon MacDonald said of the “tragic” attack.
The gunman signed in to see his mother in the hospital’s intensive care unit around 1 p.m., MacDonald said. Gunfire erupted soon after.
Dozens of police officers flocked to the hospital amid an “active shooter alert” and fears of a possible killing rampage.
Witnesses said police pulled Frink from a car as he tried driving away from the hospital campus just before 3 p.m., according to the Valley News.
The slain mother was identified as Pamela Ferriere, of Groton, N.H., police said.
